Dr. Steven P. Bucci presently serves as IBM’s Issue Lead for Cyber, a strategic emphasis that is part of the IBM Global Leadership Initiative, the company “think tank” for IBM Public Sector. Bucci brings nearly 30 years of leadership at the highest levels of Government in response to ongoing threats to America. He is a recognized expert in the interagency process, particularly as it involves the defense of U.S. interests domestically, and the productive interplay of key governmental and private sector entities in the Homeland Security context.
Following a distinguished 28-year career in the U.S. Army, Dr. Bucci served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Homeland Defense and Defense Support for Civil Authorities, overseeing policy issues involving the Defense Domains (Air, Land, and Maritime), National Guard operational issues, Domestic Counter Terrorism, all Readiness Exercises, and Defense response to natural and manmade disasters (e.g., floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and industrial accidents). He helped lead in DoD’s response to the growing Cyber Security threats facing the U.S. He also acted as the primary civilian oversight of DoD U.S. Northern Command.
